Interesting observation and worth thinking about. My point, perhaps poorly made, was that he isn't the kind name that often lands on an op-ed piece in a big-city newspaper; the Post, perhaps, was desperate for someone to make the point he made because it didn't want to make it themselves but wanted the idea to be planted with its audience.

DEI is a woke liberal concept and now you’re calling it being used racist?

“Never mind that hardly anyone ever has heard of him.”

What a peculiar slam to find on a Substack essay. One of the reasons Substack came into existence is that the mainstream media — which you and I both used to work for — had a dearth of thought diversity. Why should it matter that hardly anyone has heard of him?

As Affirmative Action has evolved, it should be clear by now that people are people. Women and “persons of color” can do good work. But they are also like anybody else. They have egos. They have prejudices. They can be just as arrogant and incompetent as a white male. Would you believe there are even cases of female bosses sexually harassing male subordinates?

Simply saying the obvious can get you in trouble in America with its vaunted free press. Even if nobody has ever heard of you.

Should Kamala Harris be elected president, I hope she rises to the occasion like the examples of the people you cited here. And should the other candidate get elected, maybe he will finally rise to the occasion, too.

Why are you such a great columnist, Arnie? Was it because I fed you delicious cartoons at the Rag? You nailed the DEI topic clearly and smartly. Bravo.
