Love it; thanks, Mike. (I do not remember him, it was probably after I left at end of 1988.)

Arnie, you might remember Marc Rosenbaum, who was a Register copy editor for a brief time before moving on to NPR. He and his wife Lyn Ingersoll of Clear Lake have a similar story. We especially like it because we arranged their first date.

We used to attend Staves church in Des Moines and two of our kids were baptized there. Small world!!!

Great story, Arnie! It's one that offers so much hope for all who encounter difficulties in weaving their ways through religious and other significant differences with extended family. The impact CAN wind up being positive for all who allow it to be. Thanks for sharing the wonderful Garson & Baird example!

Knowing the people in this story made it extra interesting to me. I much admire the way you and Lynn turned what could have been years of struggle into a loving, caring and what was surely a most interesting family. Love to you both.

I, too, grew up in an interfaith marriage, Catholic+Methodist. It takes patience and faith to get through this, but we all made it FINE in a family of six. It can be done.
