The first steamer on the Lakes was the Favorite, a thirty-passenger launch that was built on the Cedar River, shipped by rail to Spencer, loaded on a pair of horse-drawn wagons and transported to West Lake Okoboji. She was launch in April 1881 and carried passengers between Arnolds Park, then known as Arnold’s park, and Spirit Lake.
