“It will require the resources of the federal and state governments to restore these valuable natural resources,” the association said.” And create a public buffer around the lakes so the public can enjoy what their tax $$$ paid for.

So the State refuses to pay the administrative costs to receive federal money to feed lunches to poor children, but we should pay to indemnify summer lake homes?

I have mixed feelings about the damage done from the flooding at the lakes. From childhood I have been going to the lakes so I appreciate the beauty, history and fun of the area. There has been tremendous overgrowth on the shorelines, man-made inlets, and yearly increases in the number of boats and jet skis on the lakes. I must say the serenity of the lake without boats, etc. was wonderful over July 4th. Paying for repairs and shoreline stabilization will need careful thought - my first reaction is not to provide taxpayer funds.

Boo hoo for more rich people problems. I don’t see this as “damage” but natural. Probably many landowners are MAGA or MINO and are the first to not want pay taxes to feed hungry children (as just one example of better uses for government spending)

And yes I am planning on contributing to the Iowa Great Lakes economy this coming September

My parents bank was completely lost and their is concern for the patio and possibly the house above. We have had this property in our family for 60 years and its future is in question. My parents are in their early 70s and I wish they didn’t have to worry about this at this stage in life.
