Thank you for your contribution to my research -- and for your kind words. I wish I had thought of that last line in your note. It absolutely would have made it into my article. Or, if I'd read it from you, I would have quoted it. What is going to happen to her statue? Any idea?
Thanks, Richard. I couldn’t resist. There was another odd word in the column. Preceptress. My soft ware said “not a word.” Looked in MW. Not there. Had to go to Web II intl - female preceptor.
Comparing Trumps short rambling statement on child care with Biden’s months-long demented incoherence is at best laughable - at worst purposeful journalistic malfeasance
Outstanding article about a brilliant woman with many gifts! Many of those early women pioneers in the law faced challenges, and enjoyed support from many good people around them. It's an interesting dive into breaking barriers to look at how they navigated both opportunities and barriers, with remarkable gratitude. Arabella Mansfield sounds like someone who would have been a worthy opponent, if she had practiced law.

Arnie—Fascinating story with a bonus for the reader. Adding prolixity to the verbal tool kit!

Great article. We should admire the breadth of her interests and study---literature, language, history, political affairs.
